Screenwriting plays a role within Andy Maher’s practice as he develops passive characters that absorb and reflect the world around them. Once the world that the character perceives is curated, Maher will then begin to paint this scene. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, these worlds that the characters occupy themselves in have been affected by an exterior anomaly. This can take the form of tree shadows (1),(2) or in the manner in which the painting is displayed (3).
